This report describes 50 programs from 35 States that were funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance's (BJA) Formula Grant and Discretionary Grant Programs and involve innovative strategies for responding to the problems of drug abuse, violence, or both.
Abstract
The programs were developed in 10 program areas: drug/crime prevention, police/community partnerships, innovative court programs/prosecution, alternatives to incarceration, system improvement, corrections, task forces/law enforcement, treatment and rehabilitation, victims, and youth violence. Each program is described with respect to the problems it addresses, the project goals and objectives, the program components, the results and impact with respect to performance measures and accomplishments, prospects for replication, funding from BJA and other sources, and contact information.
