THIS IS THE FINAL REPORT OF THE SPCS PROJECT WHICH WAS DESIGNED TO MEET THE POST-SECONDARY EDUCATIONAL NEEDS OF INMATES.
Abstract
THE REPORT BEGINS WITH A STATISTICAL SUMMARY OF REPORTS ON SPECIAL LEARNING PROJECTS (SLP'S). THE NEXT SECTION PROVIDES A DESCRIPTION OF THE SLP'S; AN EVALUATION OF THEIR IMPACT ON THE POPULATION SERVED; AN ANALYSIS OF THE PERSONNEL, EDUCATIONAL METHODS, AND ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEDURES EMPLOYED; A DESCRIPTION OF TYPICAL PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED AND HOW THEY WERE HANDLED; AND AN INDICATION OF WHAT APPEAR TO BE THE PRIMARY LEARNINGS FROM THE PROJECTS. THE MATERIAL PRESENTED IN THIS SECTION INCLUDES REFERENCES TO THE ORAL AND WRITTEN EVALUATIONS BY THE SLP EDUCATIONAL CONSULTANTS. SECTION FOUR DESCRIBES THE ACADEMIC COUNSELING AND INDIVIDUAL ASSESSMENT SERVICES OF THE SPCS. THE FINAL PART OF THE REPORT CONTAINS THE SPCS PROJECT DIRECTOR'S OBSERVATIONS AND CONCLUSIONS ABOUT THE SLP RESULTS AND FINDINGS.
