PRIMARILY OF HISTORICAL INTEREST, THIS EXPOSE CONCERNS ITSELF WITH INCIDENTS OF POLICE BRUTALITY AND CORRUPTION THAT TOOK PLACE FROM (CIRCA) 1905 TO 1930 IN NEW YORK CITY.
Abstract
THE AUTHOR HOLDS THAT THE THIRD DEGREE TYPE OF INTERROGATION WAS NOT AN EXHIBITION OF BLOOD LUST ON THE PART OF A SINGLE POLICEMAN, BUT THAT IT WAS AN INTEGRAL AND REGULAR PART OF POLICE ROUTINE. FURTHERMORE, WITHIN THE WALLS OF THE POLICE STATION, IT EXCITED NO MORE INTEREST OR COMMENT THAN THE ARREST OF A RIOTOUS DRUNKARD. THE AUTHOR WAS A POLICE REPORTER WHO PERSONALLY VIEWED MOST OF THE INCIDENTS THAT HE DESCRIBES.
