EACH ARTICLE IS SUMMARIZED IN APPROXIMATELY TWO PAGES AND BRIEFLY DISCUSSED IN TERMS OF ITS MAJOR IDEAS, PARTICULAR PROBLEMS, AND IMPLICATIONS FOR FEDERAL AND LOCAL POLICY, AND FOR FURTHER RESEARCH WITH THE OBJECTIVE OF GUIDING READERS TO THE LONGER, ORIGINAL WORKS. AMONG SUBJECTS COVERED ARE DEVIANT BEHAVIOR IN HIGH SCHOOLS; THE RELATIONSHIP OF SCHOOL TO ALIENATION AND DELINQUENCY; SCHOOL VANDALISM; STUDENT VIOLENCE; CONDUCT DISORDER; CORPORAL PUNISHMENT; ABSENTEEISM; ALTERNATIVE SCHOOLS; AND THE EFFECT OF MASS MEDIA ON SCHOOL CRIME.
