Statistics and information on the Texas adult probation system and the recently formed Texas Adult Probation Commission are provided.
Abstract
The biennial report (1978-1979) of the Adult Probation Commission is presented, including information on the organizational structure and activities of the commission. The goals and regulations of the commission represent the first effort in Texas to establish a comprehensive set of objectives for adult probation departments. A brochure on the Adult Probation Commission lists the objectives of the commission and recounts the commission's history and membership. Statistical highlights of the adult probation system are also presented. A general brochure on Texas probation provides graphic presentations of probation statistics and the economics of probation, followed by a brief history of probation in Texas and a list of stipulations for probationers derived from Texas law. Basic benefits of probation are listed as well. Copies of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure are provided with reference to the articles on the Texas Adult Probation Commission; the misdemeanor adult probation and supervision law; and the adult probation, parole, and mandatory supervision law. A sample newsletter of the Adult Probation Commission provides a synopsis of commission actions on funding requests and describes various activities occurring in the probation system.
