This annual report discusses the services and accomplishments of each division of the Tennessee Correction Department during 1979-80.
Abstract
The divisions include adult services, youth services, agri-industries, organization development, and administration. Data are presented on expenditures of adult and juvenile institutions, prison population gains and losses, inmate profiles, rehabilitative services, and probation/aftercare activities. The goals, action plans, and expenditures of the agri-industries division, which manages State industries and institutional farms, are examined. During 1979-80, the major problem facing the division of adult services was that of overcrowding, which should be relieved by the opening of two new facilities. Also during the year, a reclassification process was implemented for each offender every 6 months, and probation policies and procedures were rewritten. Within the division of youth services, staff priorities have included development of a centralized recordkeeping system and a policies and procedures manual. Goals of the division of organization development's various sections, including internal audits and management information systems sections, are described. Activities of the division of administration, which supervises three services -- fiscal services, engineering, and personnel -- are mentioned. Tables and maps are included.
