This article discusses perspectives on Probation Trusts.
Abstract
Leadership of Probation Trusts must evolve and adapt, drawing on new perspectives as Trust leaders seek to make sense of their new operating context. This article argues that those perspectives include a more local focus so that Trusts connect better with their communities. Probation leadership must also become more business-orientated so that Trusts can win future contracts, not simply sustain present ones. Delivering high-quality services in a time of increasing economic austerity will also require distinctive leadership perspectives, as will the need for probation leaders to build influence in the national, as well as local Trust context, and ensure that they maximize opportunities for sharing leadership responsibility.
