COMMAND AND CONTROL CONCEPT FOR POLICE WORK DEVELOPED FROM A DESCRIPTION OF THE BASIC POLICE FUNCTIONS, WHICH ARE SENSING, ANALYSIS, DECISION-MAKING, AND ACTION.
Abstract
A COMMAND AND CONTROL SYSTEM CONNECTS A COMMANDER TO MANY SENSOR, SUPPORT, AND IMPLEMENTATION ELEMENTS. IN THE POLICE CONTEXT, THIS INVOLVES CONNECTING A COMMANDER TO THE SOURCES OF INFORMATION WITH WHICH THE POLICE ARE CONCERNED. IN ADDITION, HE IS LINKED TO THE RESOURCES- FILES, EQUIPMENT, PERSONNEL, FIELD UNITS- THAT HE USES IN IMPLEMENTING HIS DECISIONS. THE AUTHOR ANALYZES THE BASIC POLICE FUNCTIONS AND THEIR RELATIONSHIPS IN ORDER TO ENABLE THE POLICE COMMANDER TO INTEGRATE AND CONTROL THEM.
