THE APPROACH TO CONVERTING MASSACHUSETTS' RECORDS SYSTEM USES A CRT TERMINAL MINICOMPUTER TO ACHIEVE OPTIMUM ACCURACY, SECURITY, RESPONSE SPEED, AND REDUCED COSTS.
Abstract
THE SYSTEM DESIGN FOR THIS APPROACH USES CRT TERMINALS, WHICH ARE PLACED AT EACH OF THE THREE LOCATIONS WHERE THE PRIMARY RECORDS TO BE CONVERTED ARE MAINTAINED, TRANSMIT THEIR SEGMENTS OF DATA OVER DEDICATED TELEPHONE LINES TO THE CENTRALLY-LOCATED ON-LINE MINICOMPUTER WHICH AUDITS AND STORES THIS INFORMATION ON MAGNETIC TAPE. THIS TAPE IS THEN BATCH PROCESSED BY A DATA PROCESSING CENTER WHICH CREATES A MASTER FILE OF CRIMINAL HISTORY RECORDS. (AUTHOR)
