SURVEY COVERING THE PERIOD FROM SEPTEMBER THROUGH DECEMBER 1975 AND INCLUDING ANY SALARY CHARGES EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 1976.
Abstract
THE 'JUDICIAL SALARIES IN APPELLATE AND TRIAL COURTS' TABLE LISTS THE DATE OF LAST SALARY CHANGE FOR EACH STATE COURT SYSTEM. THIS TABLE, LIKE THE 'RANK ORDER OF JUDICIAL SALARIES' TABLE, UTILIZES SALARIES PAID TO ASSOCIATE JUSTICES FOR THE HIGHEST COURT AND INTERMEDIATE APPELLATE COURTS. THE GENERAL TRIAL COURT SALARIES REFER TO THE STATE-PAID SALARY MINUS SUPPLEMENTS. SALARIES INCLUDING SUPPLEMENTS APPEAR IN PARENTHESES IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE FIGURES FOR THE STATE PAID SALARY. THE SECTION DEALING WITH JUDICIAL SALARIES IN COURTS OF LIMITED AND SPECIAL JURISDICTION IS DIVIDED INTO SEVEN CATEGORIES ON A JURISDICTIONAL BASIS. APPENDIX I LISTS ALL PENDING LEGISLATION ON A STATE BY STATE BASIS WHICH COULD AFFECT JUDICIAL SALARIES. APPENDIX II INDICATES THOSE STATES WHICH PROVIDE FOR 'FLOATING' JUDICIAL SALARIES ON THE CONSUMER PRICE INDEX OR OTHER COST OF LIVING ADJUSTER.
