This document reports the results of a 1975 Maryland survey of drug abuse among adolescents.
Abstract
The 1975 survey was undertaken to obtain current information on adolescent drug use and its correlates and to provide data for assessment of trends in drug use. For the most part, the study used the same methodology, sample design and survey instrument as a similar study conducted in 1973 in order to facilitate comparisons of the two studies. The 1973 study provided the base line data against which changes in extent and patterns of drug use could be measured. This report presents information in the following sections: (1) Objectives; (2) Sample Design; (3) Survey Instrument and Administration; (4) Data Processing; (5) Description of the Sample; (6) Drug Usage Patterns of the Total Sample; (7) Reported Usage of Drugs by Subdivisions [of the State]; (8) Relationship Between Socioeconomic and Demographic Characteristics and Drug Use; (9) Weighted Index of Total Drug Use; (10) Change in Drug Usage Patterns, 1973-1975; and (11) Limitations of the Data and Conclusions.
