Beginning in September 1994, the North Carolina Justice Fellowship Task Force held a series of six public hearings on the juvenile justice system in North Carolina.
Abstract
Hearings were held in Raleigh, Charlotte, Winston-Salem, Rocky Mount, Asheville, and Wilmington. Hearing participants included mayors, district attorneys, juvenile law enforcement officers, former and current district court judges, juvenile service providers, juvenile court counselors, pastors, academicians, and others. Testimony presented at the hearings on a wide range of topics is summarized. The goal is to help the North Carolina Justice Fellowship Task Force develop comprehensive policy recommendations aimed at reforming North Carolina's juvenile justice system and widening its focus.
