Abstract
Twenty-eight responding departments of corrections reported increases in system capacity for the first half of 1993; five reported a decrease in capacity. The report summarizes State legislation dealing with issues including, inter alia, crime victims, gate money, corrections appropriations, intermediate sanctions, parole supervision, community corrections, education, and sentencing for drug offenders. Another section describes litigation filed and decided on various issues including equal protection for women, assault pay, due process, and the statute of limitations. The report presents results of a survey of super- maximum facilities and units. Other sections cover AIDS information and NIC Prisons Division highlights.
