INVESTIGATORS OFTEN COME TO A PREMATURE CONCLUSION AS TO CAUSE OF DEATH ON THE BASIS OF CIRCUMSTANTIAL EVIDENCE, AN INADEQUATE INVESTIGATION, STATEMENTS BY PREJUDICED WITNESSES AND, ALL TOO FREQUENTLY, EVEN BY PHYSICIANS.
Abstract
A STUDY IS PROVIDED OF A CASE OF SUICIDE WHERE THE ORIGINAL CONCLUSIONS AS TO MANNER AND CAUSE OF DEATH WERE SHOWN, BY FURTHER, MORE DETAILED INVESTIGATION, TO BE MISTAKEN. THIS CASE SHOWED, AMONG OTHER THINGS, THAT IT IS IMPORTANT TO PRESERVE ALL EVIDENCE UNTIL A THOROUGH INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN MADE. --IN GERMAN
