HEARINGS TO OBTAIN VIEWS OF SELECTED WITNESSES ON THE GENERAL SUBJECT OF THE INTERGOVERNMENTAL PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH SUBSTATE REGIONALISM AND ON A DRAFT REPORT ON SUBSTATE REGIONALISM AND THE FEDERAL SYSTEM.
Abstract
THE COMMISSION WAS URGED TO CONDUCT REGIONAL MEETINGS BY BOTH THE SENATE AND HOUSE SUBCOMMITTEES ON INTERGOVERNMENTAL RELATIONS ON THE BASIS OF THEIR FIVE YEAR REVIEW OF THE COMMISSION'S OPERATIONS IN 1966. THEY FELT SUCH MEETINGS WOULD STRENGTHEN THE COMMISSION'S ROLE AS A FORUM FOR DISCUSSING AND HOPEFULLY RESOLVING INTERGOVERNMENTAL CONFLICTS AND HELP BRING THE COMMISSION'S WORK TO THE ATTENTION OF STATE AND LOCAL OFFICIALS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC. VARIOUS STATE, REGIONAL AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND AGENCY PERSONNEL SUBMITTED FORMAL WRITTEN STATEMENTS AND STATEMENTS FOR THE RECORD. THESE ARE THE CONTENT OF THE REPORT. SEE ALSO NCJ-14196.
