Abstract
THE MAJOR AUTHORITY FIGURE CHOSEN WAS THE POLICEMAN. THE FINDINGS INDICATED A GENERAL TREND TOWARD AN INCREASE IN NEGATIVE FEELING ABOUT THE POLICE WITH AN INCREASE IN AGE. A REVERSE TREND EXISTED IN THE ATTITUDES TOWARD THE LAW. CHILDREN WERE MORE POSITIVE WITH AGE. THERE WAS AN INCREASE IN NEGATIVE FEELING TOWARD FREEDOM FROM THE SECOND THROUGH THE SIXTH GRADE. HOWEVER, THERE WAS AN ABRUPT REVERSAL WITH THE EIGHTH GRADE. BIBLIOGRAPHY ( AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
