AN ELEVEN-STEP PROCEDURE IS SUGGESTED BY THE AUTHOR TO FACILITATE THE LEARNING PROCESS A NEOPHYTE TREATMENT OFFICER MUST GO THROUGH TO WRITE GOOD REPORTS.
Abstract
THESE SUGGESTIONS INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: KNOW THE PURPOSE OF THE REPORT, PLAN THE REPORT, BEGIN WRITING AFTER THE FIRST MEETING, DETERMINE THE BEST SOURCE OF INFORMATION, GATHER AND RECORD INFORMATION, VERIFY INFORMATION, OUTLINE THE REPORT, WRITE THE REPORT, EVALUATE AND RECOMMEND, REVIEW REPORTS, AND FOLLOWUP. BY PREPARING REPORTS IN THIS DECEPTIVELY SIMPLE STEP-BYSTEP PROCEDURE, THE WRITER WILL NOT BE OVERWHELMED BY THE OVERALL REPORT-WRITING TASK AND WILL NOT NEGLECT IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS. ALTHOUGH SUCH FORMALIZATION MAY LENGTHEN THE REPORT PREPARATION TIME INITIALLY, WITH TIME AND PRACTICE THE STEPS WILL BECOME AUTOMATIC AND WILL NOT REQUIRE AS MUCH TIME AS UNSTRUCTURED, HELTER-SKELTER REPORT PREPARATION.
