This volume presents statistical data regarding the current status and trends in women's demographic characteristics, economic conditions, health, and social characteristics, including victimization and criminal behavior.
Abstract
The charts and tables are reproduced from Federal Government sources and nongovernment publications. The data focus on population changes, immigration, birth trends, death and life expectancy, female employment, earnings and pension coverage, occupations, income and assets, poverty, public assistance, health and disability status, health insurance, marriage and divorce, living arrangements, education, voting and political involvement, and roles as victims and offenders. The victimization data cover the victimization rates for persons 12 years old and over, by offenses, the sex and race of the victims, and victim-offender relationships. Additional tables focus the victimization of women by homicide and other violent crimes. Further tables describe jail inmates by sex and race, the security classification of female inmates in State and Federal correctional institutions, the demographic characteristics of State prison inmates, the most serious offense of male and female State prison inmates, female death row inmates, and prior physical or sexual abuse of male and female State prison inmates.
