FIRST YEAR GRANT ACTIVITIES OF THE NEVADA COMMISSION ON CRIME, DELINQUENCY, AND CORRECTIONS' STATISTICAL ANALYSIS CENTER (SAC), MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATIVE STATISTICS (MAS), AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE (TA) PROGRAMS.
Abstract
A NUMBER OF DIFFERENT TASKS WERE UNDERTAKEN DURING THIS FIRST GRANT YEAR PERIOD, FROM SEPTEMBER 15, 1974, THROUGH OCTOBER 30, 1975. AN AUTOMATED DATA REDUCTION AND STORAGE SYSTEM WAS DEVELOPED FOR UNIFORM CRIME REPORTING (UCR). THE 1975 UCR DATA WAS COLLECTED, DEVELOPMENT OF UCR AUDIT PROCEDURES WAS BEGUN, AND SEVERAL UCR REPORTS WERE PRODUCED, INCLUDING THE 1974 ANNUAL. MAS DATA COLLECTION FORMS WERE DESIGNED AND USED TO COLLECT DATA FOR THE COMPREHENSIVE STATE PLAN, A PROJECT WHICH INCREASINGLY INCORPORATED THE DEFINITION OF MAS PRIORITIES. STUDIES WERE CONDUCTED TO DEFINE OFFENDER-BASED TRANSACTION STATISTICS/COMPUTERIZED CRIMINAL HISTORIES (OBTS/CCH) DATA ELEMENTS AND SET UP THE FILES FOR THE CENTRAL STATE CRIMINAL RECORDS REPOSITORY. A STUDY OF A SAMPLE OF TRANSACTION RECORDS WAS DESIGNED, TO SUPPORT BOTH OBTS/ CCH DEVELOPMENT AND MAS. TWO SPECIAL RESEARCH PROJECTS, ON RENO CRIME PATTERNS AND LAS VEGAS RAPE OFFENDERS, WERE CONDUCTED. TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE FOR RECORDS SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT WAS PROVIDED TO THE CARSON CITY SHERIFF'S OFFICE AND THE CALIENTE POLICE DEPARTMENT. IN ADDITION, CONSIDERABLE TIME WAS SPENT ON ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES, SUCH AS ACQUIRING THE STAFF AND FACILITIES TO CONDUCT SAC PROJECTS AND DEVELOPMENT, COORDINATION, AND EVALUATION OF MAS, UCR, OBTS/CCH, AND ALSO OFFENDER-BASED STATE CORRECTIONS INFORMATION SYSTEM (OBSCIS) PROGRAMS.
