This report provides a summary of the 2003 survey of customer satisfaction in funded methadone clinics in Texas.
Abstract
The Texas Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse (TCADA) conducts a survey each year to gauge customer satisfaction with its funded methadone clinics. Fifteen questions measured with a Likert-type scale cover 5 basic areas of interest: access to care, clinic rules and policies, satisfaction with clinical staff, satisfaction with information presented at the clinic, and clinical treatment aspects. On average, clients reported high levels of satisfaction with services received from TCADA-funded methadone clinics. Of those surveyed, 96 percent reported they would recommend their clinic’s services to others; 81 percent reported the clinic is easy to access; 93 percent were satisfied with the information they received from the clinic staff; 94 percent agreed that all clinic rules and procedures were clearly explained; 94 percent reported they were treated with respect by clinic staff; and 97 percent of respondents agreed that the quality of services they received helped them in the treatment of their addiction. Percentages on individual clinics varied somewhat from these averages. Access to care received the lowest rating in the State. As such, State and health care agencies must become more involved in reducing barriers to health care access. Tables
