Abstract
Eligibility requirements for compensation are defined, application for compensation is discussed, and claims processing procedures are noted. Further, circumstances in which emergency awards may be granted are addressed, and attention focuses on hearings, hearings officers, and attorneys. Awards in 1980 totalled $52,855.98; of 75 claims filed, compensation was paid in 37 cases and denied in 21. Nineteen claims are still pending. Sixteen of the claims were for homicides; 15, for assault felonies; 10, for assault robberies; 21, for assault misdemeanors; 12, for sexual assaults; and 1, for vehicular homicide. The appendix lists the names of victims and claimants, describes each case, and notes the decision on the claim.
