THIS TRAINING GUIDE FOR A STANDARDIZED CRIME REPORTING SYSTEM (SCRS) PROVIDES AN APPROACH FOR PLANNING, CONDUCTING, AND EVALUATING SCRS TRAINING SESSIONS AND INCLUDES SAMPLES OF REPRODUCIBLE TRAINING AIDS.
Abstract
A NUMBER OF ELEMENTS GO INTO PLANNING A TRAINING SESSION. THESE ELEMENTS INCLUDE ASSESSING NEEDS, SPECIFYING OBJECTIVES, AND SELECTING RESOURCES. CONDUCTING THE TRAINING INVOLVES A VARIETY OF TASKS SUCH AS SETTING UP THE TRAINING AREA, SELECTING TEACHING METHODS, AND FOLLOWING THE LESSON PLAN. FINALLY, AN EVALUATION OF THE EVALUATING SCRS TRAINING SESSIONS SHOULD BE MADE. IMPLIED IN THESE ACTIVITIES (AND OUTLINED IN THIS MANUAL) ARE DECISIONS ON TYPE OF TRAINING FORMAL OR INFORMAL--AND TEACHING METHODS, HOW MUCH TRAINING FOR BOTH THE OPERATIONAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE LEVELS, BUDGET AND SPACE NEEDS, AND PREPARATION TIME AND LESSON PLANS. THIS GUIDE DETAILS METHODS FOR INFORMAL TRAINING, WITH ATTENTION TO PRACTICAL ASPECTS AND OUTLINES SUBJECT AREA TO BE COVERED, INSTRUCTIONAL SCOPE TRAINING OBJECTIVES, AND REFERENCE MATERIALS FOR SESSIONS WITH ADMINISTRATORS, MANAGERS/SUPERVISORS, COMPLAINT/DISPATCH PERSONNEL, REPORT TAKERS, RECORDS OR DATA PROCESSING PERSONNEL, AND DATA USERS.
