This report highlights the duties and accomplishments of each division of the Spokane Police Department (Washington) and presents crime and arrest statistics.
Abstract
The divisions described are directed at patrol, traffic, and crime analysis; investigations; vice, intelligence, and narcotics; planning and research; police/community relations; crime prevention; and records, property, and identification. Also discussed are the police chaplain's program and the Spokane police reserves. A map of Spokane, a list of police personnel, and tables depicting monthly radio calls and the police budget are included. Data tables are given on offenses by adults, arrests of adults by age and race, and dispositions for adults. The age and race of juveniles arrested during the year are also tabulated, as are the number of traffic accidents and injuries. The report indicates that Index crimes (Class I) for 1980 increased 5 percent over last year and that crimes against persons increased at a percentage rate greater than crimes against property. Rape had the greatest increase (84 percent) followed by murder (33 percent) and robbery (17 percent). A description of the Spokane Police Academy is also included.
