A QUANTATITIVE ANALYSIS OF JUDICIAL DECISIONS IS DISCUSSED.
Abstract
THE AUTHOR STATES AND EXPLAINS THE SPECIAL AND GENERAL MULTIVARIATE THEORIES OF JUDICIAL DECISIONS. ACCORDING TO THE SPECIAL THEORY, A JUDICIAL DECISION IS A FUNCTION OF THE LINEAR COMBINATION OF SEVERAL SPECIFIED VARIABLES, WHILE THE GENERAL THEORY INTERPRETS A JUDICIAL DECISION AS A NONLINEAR FUNCTION OF SEVERAL SPECIFIED VARIABLES. HE ILLUSTRATES HOW THE SPECIAL THEORY CAN BE DERIVED FROM THE GENERAL THEORY AND DESCRIBES THE FORMS IN WHICH THESE THEORIES EMERGED. IMPLICATIONS OF THIS DEVELOPMENT ARE DISCUSSED. NOTES AND REFERENCES ARE INCLUDED.
