AN EVALUATION OF THE COUNSELING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COMPONENTS OF THE BUREAU, INCLUDING DESCRIPTIONS OF METHODS AND PROCEDURES, PROGRESS IN MEETING OBJECTIVES, AND COMMENTS AND CONCLUSIONS.
Abstract
THE COUNSELING STAFF OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD SERVICES BUREAU (NSB) PROVIDES DIRECT SERVICES TO JUVENILE OFFENDERS, THEIR FAMILIES, RAPE VICTIMS, VICTIMS OF OTHER CRIMES, AND PERSONS IN NEED OF ASSISTANCE FOR OTHER PERSONAL PROBLEMS. THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COMPONENT AIMS TO PROVIDE THE COMMUNITY WITH A COMPREHENSIVE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM ON CRIME PREVENTION AND RESOURCES AVAILABLE TO VICTIMS OF CRIME, AND TO COORDINATE EXISTING AGENCIES AND DEVELOP NEW PROGRAMS. OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT WERE TO PROVIDE REFERRAL SERVICES, TO JUVENILES, TO SERVE FIRST YEAR CLIENTS, TO REDUCE RECIDIVISM, TO PROVIDE DIRECT SERVICES TO VICTIMS AND POTENTIAL VICTIMS, TO COORDINATE AND DEVELOP COMMUNITY RESOURCES, AND TO PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL SERVICES TO POTENTIAL VICTIMS. PROGRESS IN MEETING EACH OF THESE OBJECTIVES IS ASSESSED. A DISCUSSION OF PERSONNEL AND FISCAL MANAGEMENT IS ALSO PROVIDED.
