This document reports on the state of the South Dakota Unified Judicial System for the Fiscal Year 1997-1998.
Abstract
Highlights of the Annual Report on the South Dakota Judiciary include the continuing debate concerning circuit court boundaries and the related issue of county consolidation; efforts to develop a truly integrated justice information system for the State and access to the Criminal Justice Information System, the circuit court docket and the Unified Judicial System adult and juvenile probation systems using the existing state police radio network; continuing efforts at restorative justice in the State probation programs; and the fact that the Court is more current with its docket than at any time in recent history. The report provides information on: (1) Supreme Court; (2) Circuit Court; (3) Judicial Staffing; (4) Finances, Receipts and Disbursements, including State expenditures and selected disbursements compared by City, State and County; (5) Civil Caseload Data; (6) Criminal Caseload Data; and (7) Court Service Caseload Data.
