This 1980-1981 annual report provides statistics and information on the operations of the South Carolina Parole and Community Corrections Board.
Abstract
One function of the Parole and Community Corrections Board is to supervise adult offenders placed on probation and those released on parole. Criteria to guide parole decisions are presented, along with parole conditions. Tabular data on parole present (1) the number of paroles granted according to race, sex, and age by county; (2) the frequency of parole revocation according to specific time periods; (3) the total number of parole revocations by county; (4) the number of parole terminations; (5) the educational classification of those paroled; and (6) parole data according to offense, sex, race, and age. Probation data show the number given probation by race, sex, and age; parole revocation by county of supervision; the number of persons released from probation; probation data according to offense, sex, race, and age; and the educational classification of probationers. Data are also provided on pardon action, interstate supervision of parole and probation, agent activities, personnel, and training and staff development. Budget information is provided as well. Legislation, Attorney General's opinions, and case notes bearing upon the authority and responsibilities of the Board are appended.
