THE RESIDENCES OF FEMALE BURGLARS TEND TO BE CLUSTERED SPATIALLY TO A GREATER DEGREE THAN THOSE OF MALE BURGLARS AND THE LOCATIONS OF THE CRIMES THEY COMMIT TEND TO BE EVEN MORE TIGHTLY CLUSTERED.
Abstract
WOMEN ARE MORE LIKELY TO COMMIT BURGLARIES WITHIN THE AREA IN WHICH THEY RESIDE AND THAT, IN CASES IN WHICH THEY COMMIT THIS CRIME ELSEWHERE, THEY TRAVEL SHORTER DISTANCES THAN MALE BURGLARS. THIS DEMONSTRATES THE CONDITION OF CONSTRICTED FEMALE MOBILITY EVEN WHEN THE ACTIVITY IS THE TRADITIONALLY MALE CRIME OF BURGLARY. DATA FOR THE STUDY WERE OBTAINED FROM THE PHILADELPHIA COURTS.
