DESCRIPTION OF THE FAST-GROWING PARISIAN SUBURB OF ORLY, IN FRANCE, GIVING STATISTICS ON POPULATION, OVERCROWDED TEMPORARY HOUSING AND SCHOOL CONDITIONS, WITH SUGGESTIONS ON POSSIBLE WAYS OF REDUCING JUVENILE DELINQUENCY.
Abstract
THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH SCHOOLS AND TEACHERS, NOT NEARLY ENOUGH JOBS ARE AVAILABLE IN AND NEAR ORLY, AND CULTURAL AND SPORTS FACILITIES ARE INADEQUATE. FURTHERMORE, YOUNG ADULTS TO INITIATE AND RUN SUCH ACTIVITIES ARE NOT AVAILABLE IN SUFFICIENT NUMBERS. SOME SUGGESTIONS FOR IMPROVEMENT ARE SPECIAL CLASSES FOR 14 TO 16-YEAR-OLDS TO PREPARE THEM FOR LIFE AFTER LEAVING SCHOOL, CLUBS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE RUN WITH THE HELP OF SCHOOL PERSONNEL AND ORGANIZATIONS SPECIALIZING IN YOUTH WORK, AND THE CREATION OF AN INDUSTRIAL ZONE THAT WOULD PROVIDE MORE JOBS. --IN FRENCH
