This article was written with two objectives in mind: the first is the concept of social control in Mexico and the second reviews the dynamics of social control and drug usage in Mexico.
Abstract
The author analyzes social control in selected periods of Mexican history and offers some historical understanding of these issues as compared with European and American legal scholars' studies. In the second part, the author restricts his historical analysis of social control to its effect on the drug use of those drugs native to Mexico such as peyote, ololiuhqui, and teono nacatl. 7 tables, 3 appendixes, and 70 references
