THE REPORT REPRESENTS AN EVALUATION OF THE THIRD YEAR OPERATIONS OF A PROJECT THAT WAS DESIGNED TO AID YOUTHS, PARTICULARLY RUNAWAYS, BY PROVIDING EARLY DIVERSION FROM THE JUVENILE JUSTICE SYSTEM.
Abstract
THE THREE MAJOR SECTIONS OF THE EVALUATION ARE CONCERNED WITH: THE HISTORY AND DESCRIPTION OF THE ALTERNATIVE SERVICES FOR JUVENILES PROGRAM (ASJ), AN ANALYSIS OF ASJ'S EFFECTIVENESS IN REDUCING RECIDIVISM, AND AN ANALYSIS OF THE EFFICIENCY OF THE ASJ PROGRAM. AMONG CONCLUSIONS GLEANED FROM THE REPORT, IT WAS NOTED THAT THE EVALUATOR DOES NOT BELIEVE THAT THE ASJ YOUTH DIVERSION AND SERVICE MODEL WAS GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO 'SHOW WHAT IT COULD DO' IN THE COMMUNITY: IT WAS NOT FULLY IMPLEMENTED. PERTINENT DOCUMENTS AND DATA GATHERING FORMS ARE INCLUDED IN RELEVANT APPENDICES. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)...KAP
