These hearings on S. 1920, the Small Business Computer Crime Prevention Act, focus on computer crime and its effects on the business community and the role of the Small Business Administration (SBA) in education and prevention.
Abstract
S. 1920 requires the SBA to define and assess the nature, extent, and impacts of computer crimes committed against small businesses. The SBA can take advantage of the expertise developed in both the Federal and private corporate sectors for protection and control of computer crime. The SBA can also disseminate needed and affordable materials through a resource center mandated by the bill. Witnesses included academicians, insurance underwriters, computer security experts, a representative of the Smaller Business Association of New England, and representatives from the SBA. Some correspondence is appended.
