THIS PAPER DESCRIBES THE PURPOSES, DEVELOPMENT, AND FUTURE DIRECTIONS OF THE SJIS (STATE JUDICIAL INFORMATION SYSTEM) PROJECT.
Abstract
THE MAJOR FINDINGS OF THE SJIS PROJECT WERE THAT THERE IS NO PROTOTYPE STATE-LEVEL JUDICIAL ADMINISTRATION SYSTEM; THAT SUCCESSFUL IMPLEMENTATION OF AN SJIS DEPENDS ON INVOLVEMENT OF PERSONS FROM ALL LEVELS OF THE JUDICIARY; AND THAT THERE MUST BE COMPLETE MUTUAL UNDERSTANDING AMONG THE SJIS PROJECT COMMITTEE, LEAA, LEAA REGIONS, STATE PLANNING AGENCIES, AND CDS (COMPREHENSIVE DATA SYSTEM) COMMITTEES IN EACH STATE. THE PROPOSED THIRD PHASE INVOLVES DEVELOPMENT OF A DATA UTILIZATION PACKAGE FOR STATE COURT ADMINISTRATION, AN UPGRADE OF DOCUMENTATION OF EXEMPLARY SYSTEMS, AND CONTINUATION OF PROJECT ASSESSMENTS....EB MOTIVATIONAL VARIABLES PREDICTED PROGRAM COMPLETION
