Abstract
THE ACRONYM SIMBAD IS MADE UP OF LETTERS FROM THE PHRASE, SIMULATION AS A BASIS FOR SOCIAL AGENTS' DECISIONS. THE SYSTEM WAS DEVELOPED TO EXPERIMENT IN THE USE OF A COMPUTER AS A GUIDE TO PROBATION DECISION MAKING AND FOR CONVENIENT AND FAST STORAGE AND RETRIEVAL OF DATA ABOUT DELINQUENT JUVENILES. IT IS DESIGNED AS A TOOL IN THE COMPARISON OF A SINGLE CASE WITH MANY OTHERS AND THE PREDICTION OF WHAT THE OUTCOME MAY BE ON THE BASIS OF WHAT HAS HAPPENED IN THE PAST. MATHEMATICAL MODELS OF THE PROBATION PROCESS HAVE BEEN DEVELOPED. THE OBJECTIVE IS TO CREATE CHANGE EFFECTED BY AUTOMATIC UPDATING, INCREMENTING, AND EVALUATING FEATURES OF THE SYSTEM.
