This report provides a comprehensive picture of the broad spectrum of political violence perpetrated against American citizens and interests abroad during 1994.
Abstract
The selection of incidents included here was based upon the criteria of lethality, substantial property damage, use of unusual tactics or weapons, and perceptibility of targets as American or representative of U.S. interests. Of the 110 anti-U.S. incidents recorded in 1994, 77 occurred in the Inter-American region, 11 in Europe, 10 in the Near East and South Asia, and six each in Africa and East Asian and the Pacific. The majority of targets were American businesses, while others included government/diplomatic, military, and private interests.
