This article discusses the automatic signature written by many individuals and its movement, form, and variation.
Abstract
The automatic signature is produced by a person without concentration on how the letters are formed or the name is spelled. Each signature of such a writer can be considered a "still picture" of the person's true signature. The true signature is the model stored in the writer's brain that produces the automatic signature. In certain instances, when called upon to sign a particular class of documents, some writers may call up from memory an earlier style or some elements from this style and incorporate the elements in the special signature. This group of writers has some signature habits beyond those found in their daily signatures. It cannot be assumed without proof, however, that unusual elements of a signature are derived from a former style of the writer's true signature. 3 references and 3 figures (Author abstract modified)
