Abstract
SPECIAL REFERENCE IS MADE TO THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF GERMANY AND THE UNITED KINGDOM. A QUESTIONNAIRE WAS DRAWN UP AND SENT TO MEMBER GOVERNMENTS. IT WAS DESIGNED TO SECURE INFORMATION ABOUT EUROPEAN SHORT-TERM TREATMENT METHODS FOR YOUNG OFFENDERS, THEIR PLACE IN THE WHOLE RANGE OF TREATMENT MEASURES AVAILABLE, THE EVIDENCE ON THEIR EFFECTIVENESS AND ANY PROPOSED REFORMS OR NEW LINES OF THOUGHT CONCERNING THEM.
