SUCH PRACTICES COST HONEST SHOPPERS ABOUT $4 BILLION PER YEAR. METHODS OF APPREHENSION ARE EXPLAINED, INCLUDING THE USE OF ONE-WAY MIRRORS AND PLAINCLOTHES STORE DETECTIVES. THE EMBARRASSMENT AND CONSEQUENCES OF BEING CAUGHT SHOPLIFTING ARE EMPHASIZED: ARREST, JAIL, PROBATION, AND A CRIMINAL RECORD CAN SERIOUSLY AFFECT AN INDIVIDUAL'S FUTURE.
