STATISTICS DESCRIBE THE LEVEL OF CRIMINAL ACTIVITY IN THE METROPOLITAN WASHINGTON AREA FOR CALENDER YEARS 1972, 1973, AND 1974, AND THE FIRST QUARTER OF 1975.
Abstract
THESE DATA WERE COLLECTED FROM LOCAL GOVERNMENTS AND REPRESENT EACH INDEX OFFENSE, DEFINED BY THE FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION (FBI) AS MURDER, FORCIBLE RAPE, ROBBERY, AGGRAVATED ASSAULT, BURGLARY, LARCENY, AND AUTO THEFT. GRAPHIC DISPLAYS FOR EACH JURISDICTION'S INDEX OFFENSES ARE USED TO INDICATE THE MONTHLY VARIATIONS OF EACH OFFENSE. EACH GRAPH IS BRIEFLY ANALYZED. THE FIRST SECTION OF THE REPORT PRESENTS TOTAL FREQUENCIES FOR ALL SEVEN INDEX OFFENSES IN THE METROPOLITAN AREA. THE SECOND SECTION GIVES EACH JURISDICTION'S GRAPHIC DISPLAYS BY OFFENSE AND OBSERVATIONS RESULTING FROM EXAMINATION OF THE DATA.
