This audit questionnaire enables Ohio's local jails to determine if they meet the State's minimum standards.
Abstract
Standards for local jails were established in April 1978, and the Bureau of Adult Detention Facilities and Services conducts formal, onsite audits. The questionnaire is intended to help jails recognize deficiencies; identify options and alternatives avaliable to meet the standards; and develop improvement plans before the formal audit is conducted. Questions cover the areas of reception and release, classification, security, housing, sanitation and environment, communication, and medical services. Also included are questions relating to food service, recreation, discipline, due process, administration, staffing, and training. A chart allows participants to determine defieiencies. Appendixes contain sample booking and medical forms and information on establishing policies and procedures.
