THE TEXTS OF FIVE PAPERS WHICH DEAL WITH THE NEED FOR COLLABORATION AND COORDINATION BETWEEN INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION AND AGENCIES OF CORRECTIONS, CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEMS, AND PLANNING AGENCIES.
Abstract
THIS WORKSHOP WAS UNDERTAKEN FOR EDUCATORS FROM 22 UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES WHO WERE CONCERNED WITH CORRECTIONALLY ORIENTED PROGRAMS IN HIGHER EDUCATION. THE EDUCATORS WHO PARTICIPATED IN THIS PROGRAM WERE DRAWN FROM PROGRAMS WHICH VARIED IN EDUCATIONAL LEVEL, PROGRAM SIZE, AND GEOGRAPHY. THE TOPICS COVERED IN THESE PAPERS INCLUDE THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN CORRECTIONAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS AND CORRECTIONAL AGENCIES, EMPLOYMENT PATTERNS OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE GRADUATES, AND A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS IN FOUR YEAR LAW ENFORCEMENT AND CRIMINOLOGY BACHELOR DEGREE PROGRAMS. ALSO INCLUDED ARE ADMISSIONS AND RETENTION POLICIES GRANTING DEGREES IN CORRECTIONS, REPRESENTATIVE CURRICULA FROM TWO-YEAR CORRECTIONS PROGRAMS, AND ACTION RESEARCH AS A TOOL FOR CORRECTIONS EDUCATORS.
