Abstract
A NUMBER OF REPRESENTATIVE COURT DECISIONS SHOW VARIOUS FACTUAL SITUATIONS ARISING FROM SHOPLIFTING INCIDENTS AND THE RESULTS OF THE LEGAL PROCESSES INVOLVED. WITH FALSE ARREST BEING A FREQUENT CONCERN, SECURITY AND STORE PERSONNEL MUST KNOW THE LIMITS OF THEIR ACTION IN DEALING WITH SHOPLIFTING.
