Twenty-three essays by security professionals examine general security issues for the year 2000 and project security requirements for specific circumstances, enterprises, and facilities.
Abstract
General security issues discussed include security industry trends, the security profession of the future, the development of a professional image, and social and moral implications for security in the year 2000. Other general security issues reviewed are the safeguarding of proprietary information, the security contribution to corporate profits, crime prevention techniques in the United Kingdom, and asset protection in the Far East. Some of the specific security issues probed are terrorism and beyond; women in security; fire protection and environmental safety; and security for airlines, colleges, museums, transportation, hotels, residences, retail businesses, and sporting events. All of the aforementioned issues are examined from the perspective of security needs for the year 2000. The book concludes with an analysis of the kind of security guard required in the year 2000.
