A DIGITAL VOICE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM WHICH IS BASED ON ADAPTIVE LINEAR PREDICTIVE CODING IS DESCRIBED, WITH COMMENTS MADE RELATIVE TO COMPUTER IMPLEMENTATION PROBLEMS.
Abstract
THE BASIC THEORY INVOLVES MODELING THE SPEECH TRACK AS AN ALL POLE DIGITAL FILTER BEING DRIVEN BY A TIME SEQUENCE OF PULSES FROM THE VOCAL CORDS. THE SYSTEM PRODUCES HIGH VOICE QUALITY WITH CHANNEL RATES IN THE RANGE OF 2400 TO 5400 BITS PER SECOND. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
