The Massachusetts Office of the Attorney General conducted its second annual Urban Violence Prevention Conference in 1993 to develop solutions to urban crime and violence.
Abstract
Conference participants discussed various various neighborhood and community crime prevention models, all of which were designed to promote cooperative responses to building safe neighborhoods. Crime and violence prevention and community awareness initiatives throughout Massachusetts were noted, as well as public and private partnerships devoted to urban crime and violence prevention. Conference participants also considered school-based crime prevention programs, including the Student Conflict Resolution Experts Program, mediation programs, and emergency services programs. Other conference participants addressed drug abuse and drug prevention, police-community collaboration, adolescent violence prevention, anger management, and domestic violence prevention.
