The Dangerous Drugs Board, the Philippines' highest policymaking and coordinating body on drug abuse control; the Department of Education, Culture, and Sports; and other drug rehabilitation centers have jointly initiated and implemented a formal school program at the secondary level, within the confines of rehabilitation centers.
Abstract
In recognition of the role of education in the process of the social reintegration of drug dependent persons, a school program has been established in three rehabilitation centers. Over 500 individuals have graduated, and a follow-up study to determine the effect that these programs have had with respect to the successful reintegration of those individuals into community life is currently underway. 3 references.
