Abstract
The book outlines ideas to help parents minimize, eliminate, and protect their children from childhood stumbling blocks by becoming more knowledgeable, altering parenting techniques, or working with a group to institute large-scale change. Each of the book's 60 entries examines some aspect of a key issue including pre- and postnatal care, parenting, communication, nutrition, general health, mental health, education, safety, addiction, and social action. Many entries include a list of additional resources, including the names, addresses, and phone numbers of organizations that offer information, literature, emotional support, or referrals. The book also describes national programs designed to safeguard, foster, or educate children. Chapter references
