Abstract
The six core areas emphasized in the four CD's are attachment, self-regulation, affiliation, awareness, tolerance, and respect. The first disc provides an overview of the course, elements of safe-school planning, exercises, and video clips. The second disc, which focuses on attachment and self-regulation, intends to develop the capacity of students to form and maintain healthy emotional bonds with another person and enhance the student's ability to control primary urges such as hunger and sleep as well as feelings such as frustration, anger, and fear. The third disc, which addresses affiliation and awareness, develops the student's capacity to interact with others and contribute to group activities. This is accompanied by the cultivation of the ability to recognize the needs, interests, strengths, and values of others. The fourth disc, which is designed to develop tolerance and respect in students, focuses on the capacity to understand and accept the difference between oneself and another individual, as well as the ability of the student to appreciate the value of oneself and others. Each CD features interviews, streaming video Web links, downloadable documents, research articles, and classroom exercises for teachers.
