DELINEATION OF THREE TYPES OF PRISON STRUGGLE WHICH OCCURRED DURING THE PERIOD 1950-1971.
Abstract
THE THREE TYPES OF PRISON STRUGGLE EXAMINED ARE THE TRADITIONAL PRISON RIOT SUCH AS THOSE WHICH WERE WIDESPREAD DURING THE 1950'S, THE ORGANIZING OF BLACK PRISONERS BY THE NATION OF ISLAM, AND THE REVOLUTIONARY UPHEAVALS OF THE LATE 1960'S AND EARLY 1970'S. THE AUTHOR CONTENDS THAT IT IS IMPORTANT FOR US TO UNDERSTAND THE RISE OF A REVOLUTIONARY MOVEMENT AMONG PRISONERS SINCE THIS REFLECTS THE RISE OF A LARGER REVOLUTIONARY MOVEMENT IN AMERICAN SOCIETY.
