RESEARCH DEALING WITH THE DEVELOPMENT OF A NEW SYSTEM OF CLASSIFYING MALE YOUTHFUL OFFENDERS AT THE FEDERAL CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTION IN TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA.
Abstract
THOUGH THE FLORIDA SYSTEM WAS BASED ON THE MINNESOTA MULTIPHASIC PERSONALITY INVENTORY (MMPI) TYPOLOGY OF JUVENILE OFFENDERS, REVISIONS AND EXTENSIONS WERE INCORPORATED. THIS REPORT EXPLAINS CHANGES IN THE OPERATIONAL DEFINITIONS OF GROUPS OF JUVENILES AS THEY APPLY TO CLASSIFICATION. THE REPORT FURTHER EXPLAINS HOW A COMPUTER PROGRAM HAS BEEN DEVELOPED TO PERMIT AUTOMATED SCORING OF A LARGE PROPORTION OF THE CASES ENCOUNTERED IN CORRECTIONAL SETTINGS AT MUCH LESS EXPENSE THAN MOST SYSTEMS.
